Translucent Stone Panels – frequently asked questions
What is a translucent stone panel?
It is a cast resin panel (polymer resin with aluminium hydroxide) that reproduces the veins of onyx, jade and marble. Unlike natural onyx, it is light, consistent from sheet to sheet and transmits LED light evenly, so it is ideal for backlit surfaces.
What sizes and thicknesses are available?
Standard sheets are 2440 × 1220 mm in 5, 8 or 10 mm thickness, with glossy or matte finish. Panels can be cut, thermoformed and CNC-routed for counters and curved features.
What lighting do I need behind the panel?
An LED light sheet or LED strips on a reflective backing, typically 30–80 mm behind the panel, gives an even glow without hot spots. We can advise on the build-up for your feature wall or counter.
Is it suitable for bar counters and reception desks?
Yes – reception desks, bar fronts, light boxes, feature walls and luminous ceilings are the most common uses. It is lighter and easier to fabricate than natural onyx.
Can I get samples first?
Yes. Sample pieces can be couriered so you can check the colour with your own lighting before ordering.
